
Department of Chemistry is a largest and earliest department in the college and well recognized by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. Department have 6 qualified teaching staff at Senior level and 2 at Junior level. Department of chemistry was established in 20th June1967. The department of chemistry’s dream to educate and empower to the youth from rural background and urban level. From the beginning the whole hearted devotion and hard work of the faculty has laid down a strong foundation and the path for progress. Since its inception, Department of Chemistry indistinguishably contributed by the renowned faculty members under the leadership of Prof.S.G.Wagh, Prof.P.R.Limsey, Prof.J.S.Morey, Prof. A.N. Jadhav and Dr. G.M. Dongare. In 2023 Post Graduate teaching department of chemistry was established with specialization in organic chemistry. The college offers a wide range of Chemistry programmes offering at XI, XII, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., and a Certificate Course in Soil and Water Analysis, supported by excellent infrastructure and highly qualified faculty members. The department has made notable contributions to teaching and research and continues to pursue academic excellence. Its major research areas include Coordination Chemistry Synthesis, Density Functional Theory, Molecular Docking (Virtual Screening), Theoretical Studies, Bioactive Heterocyclic compounds and thermo-kinetics. At the postgraduate level, the department offers specialization in Organic Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry is distinguished for its strong teaching and research activities and is equipped with several advanced instruments for cutting-edge research across diverse disciplines. These include UV–Visible spectrophotometers, colorimeters, conductometers, PH-meters, TDS analysers, Potentiometers, Rotary evaporators, and Distillation assemblies.Departmental library is facilitated to all students and teachers with old and new books editions.
The department has major research areas of Ph.D. level : Coordination Chemistry Synthesis, Density Functional Theory, Molecular Docking (Virtual Screening), Theoretical Studies, Bioactive Heterocyclic compounds and thermo-kinetics, Organic Synthesis, Nano technology based synthesis and its phenomenon.
