Bridge Courses

Aims:

          Bridge course is a teaching module which helps to close the gap between two levels of competence. It helps students to make a successful transition into their new academic programs by providing them with the necessary background knowledge about the topics that will be covered in their new courses. In addition, Bridge Courses can also help students to develop the skills and abilities that they need to succeed in their new academic programs.
A Bridge Courses in various subjects for newly admitted students is conducted every year before the commencement of the first semester classes by the Shri Shivaji Science And Arts College, Chikhli. It is an independent Programme of SSSAC for newly admitted BSc-first year students.
The main objective of the course is to bridge the gap between subjects studied at pre-college level and subjects they would be studying in Graduation. The syllabus for the course is framed in such a way that they get basic knowledge on the subjects that they would be learning through graduation. This is student enhancement and development programme is devised for overall grooming and enhancement of the students’ fraternity with a special punctuation for students from rural and semi rural community.

Objectives:

  • To bridge the gap between pre-college and collegiate education to meet the students communicative requirements
  • The students will be equipped with the knowledge and the confidence needed to take on bigger challenges.
  • Before beginning the main year course, it will equip students with information. Furthermore, it will also provide certainty through interactive and dynamic learning.
  • Acting as a support system for new students, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in higher education.
  • It provides an adequate foundation in the core applied science subject. Hence students do not face any difficulties when college programs begin. This course offers a superior growth stage for students to get themselves up before starting the first semester.
  • To prepare the students for a classroom atmosphere in which English is the medium of instruction.
  • To help the students acquire the basic LSRW skills.
  • Methodology:

    A Curriculum is framed separately in each of the subjects, for Bridge Course. During the first week after the commencement of the classes, the bridge course curriculum is delivered to the students in various disciplines. A post bridge course test is conducted after the completion of bridge course syllabus to assess the ability of student’s suggestions is given to students for improvisation.
