The Zoology department is a Recognized Research Laboratory bySGBAU (since 2000). It has the authority to guide Ph.D. candidates, providing local students with a pathway to high-level scientific inquiry without needing to migrate to distant cities.

Skill-Based Career Preparation-
The department focuses on the "Economic Zoology" aspect of the field. By offering courses and MoUs related to Fishery Department, Apiculture (beekeeping), and Sericulture (silk farming), it equips students from rural backgrounds with the skills needed for self-employment. It promotes sustainable agricultural practices relevant to the local farming community.

CommunityPublic Health-
The department is deeply involved in "Extension Activities" that benefit the surrounding community and ecosystem: Students and faculty conduct blood group detection, hemoglobincheckups, and mosquito eradication programs, directly serving the local rural population.

It is marked by a strong emphasis on community awareness, regularly hosting events for Wildlife Week and Bird Week to promote conservation literacy among students and the local public.
